DACMA's innovative carbon capture systems are designed to efficiently remove CO2 from ambient air. Reliable measurement from Endress+Hauser helps ensure process performance at scale.
As industries work toward a climate-neutral future, technologies that actively remove carbon dioxide from the atmosphere are gaining importance. Direct Air Capture (DAC) offers a way to capture CO₂ directly from ambient air, creating new opportunities for carbon removal, utilization and storage. At the forefront of this innovation is DACMA, whose scalable DAC technology is designed to maximize CO₂ uptake while minimizing energy demand, helping transform ambitious climate goals into practical industrial solutions.
The results:
Verification
Every metric ton of CO₂ measured is quantifiable
Uptime
Every sensor failure is detected before it causes downtime
Process optimization
Every measurement feeds into real-time control of the plant
Digital twin
Every plant module is digitally mapped for predictive maintenance
Without precise measurement data, there can be no verifiable impact on the climate: Accurate tracking of energy consumption and CO₂ capture is key to the success of Direct Air Capture (DAC) systems - from regulatory approval to industrial-scale deployment. The measurement data from the plant provides DACMA with a clear basis for decision-making regarding the technology’s further development.

The challenge:
For Direct Air Capture (DAC) systems, process performance is defined not only by the amount of CO₂ captured, but also by the ability to quantify carbon removal with a high degree of accuracy. Reliable measurement data is essential for verifying capture rates, assessing process efficiency and establishing the transparency required by investors, regulators and carbon markets.
DACMA faced the challenge of measuring high-purity gaseous CO₂ under varying operating conditions while maintaining a compact system design. The instrumentation needed to deliver stable and accurate measurements without imposing complex installation requirements, ensuring seamless integration into the capture process.
Beyond CO₂ flow measurement, a comprehensive understanding of plant performance requires the correlation of multiple process variables, including pressure, temperature and energy consumption. Together, these parameters provide the operational insight needed to optimize capture efficiency, validate system performance and support the scale-up of DAC technology from pilot installations to industrial deployment.

Our solution:
Delivering process transparency and real-time data
To support accurate CO₂ quantification and energy monitoring, DACMA worked closely with Endress+Hauser to develop a tailored measurement concept. Together, the teams defined critical process parameters, identified key measurement points and selected technologies capable of providing reliable data under demanding operating conditions.
Promass Coriolis flowmeters enable high-accuracy measurement of gaseous CO₂, while additional instrumentation, including Prowirl vortex flowmeters for steam, Promag electromagnetic flowmeters for condensate flow and Liquicap for level measurement, provides visibility into key utility and process streams.
By combining these measurements, DACMA can correlate mass and energy balances across the entire process. This integrated data foundation supports process optimization, validates system performance and provides the transparency required to scale Direct Air Capture technology from pilot projects to industrial deployment.
The modular plant design supports flexible deployment and scale-up, enabling direct air capture capacity to be added wherever carbon removal is required
